Woods Hardwick were approached to develop the proposals for the provision of additional retail space and to improve the external appearance of a dated City Centre Complex incorporating retail, multiplex 5 screen cinema, 14 lane bowling alley and multi deck car park. The scheme resulted from a limited competition which was held by the City of Herten and the client. A significant number of design options were investigated due to the structural restrictions of the existing building and the need to meet the design requirements of a major German Retailer. The elevational treatment is critical to the design providing the city with a landmark building by unifying the mix of materials on the existing building and those of the new extensions.
